About Chance

CHANCES’ STORY

I was contacted about a very neglected dog in dire distress that needed help. He was emaciated, contained in a 4ft x 4ft fence. The grass/weeds were overgrown came up to his chest. His water bowl had brown mucky water and old pieces of molded food lay at his feet. The look in his eyes told me a story that was heartbreaking. I reached out to the homeowner who was not interested in my pleas to help this broken soul. I knew I had to do something. I ached to help him so with prayer and determination, we were able to bring him home 2 days later. His gums were white as a sheet of paper, and he only weighed 11 pounds. His healthy weight should be around 30-33 pounds. Immediate vet care and determination to save this precious soul was my focus. The vet said Chance was very sick and weak. He might survive but he wanted to prepare me he had hard fight to recover. I asked the vet was there anything else I could do, and he said give him a reason to fight to live. I brought him home with all the medication and supplies and our journey began. I hand fed him and stayed beside him for the next 3 days comforting him and told him over and over if he would fight to survive, I would give him the best life I could offer. I named him “Chance”. Chance’s will to survive pulled through and he became the love of my life! He inspired me to do more for dogs like him and I knew there were so many that needed help. I filed for our non-profit status and knew I wanted to name the rescue after him, thus “Chances Angel Rescue & Education, Inc.” was established in 2010. I am so thankful for the life we shared together. I lost my precious boy in February, 2022 when he was 16 years old. His legacy lives on with each and every dog we save and offer a new life. His sparking eyes and grand smile won the hearts of many, He will always be the one that stole my heart and my “Hero”.

With the help of many dedicated volunteers, a community that believed in what we were doing along with the support of many donors together we have saved over 2000 dogs.
